Since it opened, it has been wonderful to see people enjoying the wood-fired sauna experience at Leys Farm.
The early bookings have gone really well, and the response from visitors has been incredibly enthusiastic and complimentary. One of our first groups even booked from Belgium before travelling over, having decided that a visit to the sauna should be part of their time here.
There is something genuinely joyous about watching people arrive, settle in and simply enjoy themselves. Some come to relax quietly, while others arrive with friends and make an occasion of it. As ever at Leys Farm, our visitors come from a wonderfully varied range of backgrounds, but they all seem to appreciate the same things: warmth, nature, peace and a little time away from everyday life.
A Wood-Fired Sauna Experience in Nature
The sauna is traditionally wood-fired and, once heated, holds its temperature remarkably well. We provide ample dry firewood, allowing guests to maintain the heat throughout their session.
There is plenty of outdoor seating, chilled drinking water, a private changing room and direct access to the lake from the swimming jetty.
Surrounded by woodland and wildlife, the sauna feels completely at home in its setting. Birds move through the trees, the woodland changes with the light and there is a real sense of being immersed in the landscape.
Part of Life at Leys Farm
Looking after this landscape and the wildlife that shares it is central to everything we do here. Those wishing to support that work can find out more about The Wild Collective, while our From the Farm journal shares more about the land, its wildlife and the everyday realities of caring for a small farm.
We hoped the sauna would offer something simple, natural and restorative. Seeing people enjoy it as much as they have has been one of the loveliest parts of bringing it to life.
For those wishing to stay a little longer, our private off-grid cabin sits beside the same lake and woodland and is open for booking
